Bharathiyar Gurukulam was established in 2003 by Hindu Munnani to provide a safe and nurturing home for orphaned and abandoned children. Many children, due to unfortunate circumstances, lose parental support and face extreme hardships. Without guidance, they become vulnerable to anti-social influences. To prevent this, the Gurukulam was founded to raise children with discipline, Hindu values, and patriotism, ensuring they grow into responsible and self-reliant individuals.
The first Gurukulam was started in Tiruchirappalli within the Bharath Cultural Training College campus. Following the ancient Gurukulam system, children receive a structured routine that includes yoga, physical training, spiritual education, and formal schooling. Inspired by its success, a second center was established in 2010 in Tirupur, at the Tamizchelvan Memorial Campus near Koduvai.
Registered under the Tamil Nadu Hostels and Homes for Women and Children Regulations Act, 2014, the Gurukulam has provided a home for over 200 children, offering free education, food, shelter, and values-based learning. Many former students have secured jobs in banking, teaching, media, and other fields. Today, 71 children reside in the two Gurukulams, receiving the care they deserve.
Bharathiyar Gurukulam is committed to providing holistic education, moral values, and life skills to orphaned and underprivileged children. By offering free education, shelter, and spiritual guidance, we ensure every child develops into a disciplined, self-reliant, and responsible individual.
Beyond academics, we focus on instilling patriotism, cultural values, and leadership qualities, shaping children into strong ethical citizens who contribute positively to society.
We envision a future where no child is left abandoned or deprived of education and care. Bharathiyar Gurukulam aims to expand its reach across Tamil Nadu and beyond, establishing a nationwide network of value-based child care homes.
